More or less unknown Chinese company T-bao introduced a new laptop called Tbook K5 Pro with one unique thing, which is completely different from the competition. The element is a keyboard with round keys, which looks really atypical and from this otherwise dozen piece it makes a truly original piece of electronics.
It is not easy to differentiate in any industry today, and this is doubly true for consumer electronics. Phones, tablets, laptops, it all looks the same, for one thing and do something original is not easy today. In current notebooks, thin lines around the display play a prime role, and the Tbook K5 Pro features this modern feature, distinguishing itself from the vast majority of competing notebooks in a completely different keyboard design. It does not have classic square-shaped keys and the manufacturer in this case bet on round keys, which is at least atypical and quite quite original. It looks retro and maybe even a little steampunk, while the circular keys evoke old typewriters a little and maybe it all looks slightly hipster. It is simply an element above which everyone pauses, and that is what the manufacturer certainly was. However, it is also of purely practical importance, and according to surveys, the keypads reduce the number of typos because of the greater free space between the keys. That sounds pretty logical, and if you feel you’ve seen this type of keyboard somewhere before, Google is similar to it in the form of an optional accessory for your Pixel Slate.
Of course, the keyboard is completely backlit, and beneath it is a large touchpad with invisible buttons and touch control support. And the blue, circular thing located at the bottom right is the fingerprint reader, which also looks very interesting and overall we have to evaluate the keyboard design of this model as really good.As for the laptop itself, its chassis is made of aluminum, so we can expect quality workmanship and feel like premium machines. The manufacturer puts the weight of 1.7 kg on its website, which is not the least on a 14-inch laptop, but certainly not a great horror and even everyday portability will be absolutely hassle free. The complete dimensions of this model are 323 x 224 x 7 mm and we must commend the pleasantly thin frames on the sides and at the top of the display, while the larger frame is below the display. The diagonal of the display is already mentioned 14 inches and the manufacturer bet on the classic Full HD resolution, ie 1920 x 1080 pixels at an aspect ratio of 16: 9 LEDs took care of the backlight and the technology used is IPS, so we can look forward to wide viewing angles (170 degrees horizontally and vertically according to the manufacturer) and quality color rendering.
Probably the weakest link of this quite interesting notebook is definitely graphics, which is represented by the archaic chip GeForce 940M from NVIDIA. This card was introduced in 2015, so it is a relatively old iron built on Maxwell architecture and NVIDIA produces this card in a 28nm manufacturing process. The card has its own 2 GB GDDR3 memory, supports both DirectX 12 and Shader 5.0 and performance is a rather weaker piece, which just agitates only older or less demanding games. Easy games of the League of Legends type are enough, but you can forget about some newer games with better settings. The processor, which is represented by the Intel Celeron 3867U chip, is already much more modern, and although it is not an extra bit of power, at least comes from the current year.Built on the Kaby Lake R architecture, the chip has two 1.8 GHz physical cores and Intel produces it with a 14nm manufacturing process. Unfortunately, Hyper-Threading technology is missing and we should also mention a low 15W TPD or the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 610 accelerator.
The operating memory of this notebook is 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and for data is prepared exclusively SSD, the capacity is 256 GB and the notebook is equipped with an M.2 slot, so the internal storage can be expanded if necessary. The connector is quite solid and includes three USB 3.0 ports, one USB-C, HDMI connector, 3.5mm audio connector and no memory card slot. The WiFi connection takes care of the Internet connection and communication with wireless peripherals is provided by Bluetooth 4.2. The webcam is missing, but the integrated stereo speakers manufacturer has not forgotten and the battery has a solid capacity of 7000 mAh, which should be enough to last a single charge of about 7 hours. But far more important is the support of fast charging, and according to the manufacturer, the battery charges to 70% of its capacity in 1 hour, which is not bad at all. The operating system is represented by Windows 10 and this quite atypical, but quite interesting laptop can be purchased at one of the largest Chinese e-shops.
