Recently, the subject of portable projectors has become a bit closer to me thanks to Anker Nebula Apollo, whom I had the opportunity to test. With all the more interest I look at the freshly presented by a well-known manufacturer from the Middle East. Here is the AUN D9, a portable projector offering Full HD resolution. I wonder if careful readers noticed that this projector looks a lot like the BlitzWolf BW-VP4 we featured last month?
Recently I had a chance to test Anker Nebula Apollo mini-projector, which in its small size concealed interesting possibilities – unfortunately, displayed in WVGA resolution. The AUN D9 seems to be much more interesting, because it offers better brightness and higher resolution – but, unfortunately, there is nothing for free.
Of course, it’s not that the AUN D9 is a powerful cow that can’t be moved anywhere – then its specification wouldn’t be impressive in any way. See for yourself what size this device has – I’ll just add that it weighs 850 grams.
This cylinder, made of ABS and metal, contains components capable of displaying DLP images from 1 to 8 meters away. The offered brightness is 300 lumens and the supported native resolution is Full HD – 1920 x 1080 pixels are standard for full size projectors, but it’s still a treat for portable projectors.
The maximum image size that the AUN D9 can display is up to 300 inches, although from a shorter distance you’ll have to settle for fifty. It is also worth adding that the contrast of the displayed image is 5000:1.
As for other features, it still has two 3W speakers on board, and the whole operation is powered by Android version 7.1.2. The used SoC is Rockchip RK3368 – you can see the other parameters on the graphics below.
Don’t forget the ports that provide connectivity – the AUN D9 offers one HDMI input, two USB 2.0 ports and a 3.5mm jack, while the wireless modules support dual band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth version 4.1.
There’s a pounding spoon in each barrel of honey – in this case it appears to be a 4000mAh battery (for 7.4V) to provide about an hour and a half on one charge. Even if the manufacturer’s assurances do not turn out to be shot through, well… there is no frenzy, but that is probably the price for high resolution.
