A full-suspension electric folding bike with 20-inch fatbike tires and 350-Wh battery for under 1000 Euro? E-bikes from China are outrageously cheap. The Chinese company Laotie manufactures E-folding bikes in astonishingly high quality at prices. On their good website one thing stands out regarding its price as well as its slightly martial look: The LAOTIE PX5 is an e-folding bike with extra wide tires, a very large battery and complete suspension. LAOTIE charges $849.99 for it.
The advantage of a folding bike is obvious. On the one hand it takes up less space in small cellar compartments or apartments. On the other hand it offers itself thereby similarly as an E-Scooter (topic side) for commuters, who stow away it in the trunk, the course or in the office folded up.
The folding mechanism works very well with the 30 kg LAOTIE PX5. The safety clips on the aluminium frame and handlebars make a stable impression and are each secured with a hook. Fold down the frame and handlebars, put on the pedals and retract the seat post: done. Only the outside wiring harness causes us some problems when we fold the handlebars down.
For its comparatively low price, the LAOTIE PX5 looks clean and stable all around. The welding seams are not very fine, but solid. The 55 centimeter front suspension fork can be adjusted in its sensitivity. However, it lacks a shock absorber, so when riding over uneven ground it can bounce back into its original position. The PX5 is the only LAOTIE bike with suspension fork. The suspension of the back wheel makes it a fully. It also appears stable. Often the Achilles heel is located here, but it can break at the joint. During the ride, the back wheel suspension provides a comfortable riding experience. The LAOTIE FT5 also have such a suspension.
The brushless 350 watt motor is located on the rear wheel, which in the version intended for the European market accelerates the bicycle up to 35 km/h according to the data sheet. By the way, the digital speedometer shows 24 km/h here, we measured a good 26 km/h. The maximum speed in Germany is thus within the range permitted for pedelecs. If you google around a bit, you will quickly find a simple way to unlock the maximum motor support originally intended for the LAOTIE PX5 up to 31 km/h. This seems to be available for all LAOTIE bikes. However, we strongly advise against this, as it would put you into a legally very precarious area.

Po úhrade mi kurier priniesol balík do 3 dní. Balík neporušený. Bike v poriadku. Som technik, ale poskladať trvalo aj tak cca 1 hod. Manuál nič moc a iba anglicky. Zajtra urobím skúšobnú jazdu. Zatiaľ verím, že splní očakávania ako doručenie.
