In this post I show you the SG907 Pro of the racing cart manufacturer ZLRC. ZLRC is a chinese manufacturer and is still new in the drones business. The SG907 Pro is a very cheap drone, which is worth a look, especially for beginners and is also good value for money, especially because it is currently on offer.
Technically speaking, the manufacturer promises a lot here, for little money. Among other things, the drone has a GPS module, a Full-HD front camera and a ground camera. The front camera also has the function to take 4K photos.
Unfortunately the camera is limited to Full-HD videos with 25 FPS. Additionally the camera does not support image stabilization. Therefore, all pictures taken with this camera will be blurred. Especially with videos this is a pity.
As you can easily see, you get a lot of functions for little money with this model. The battery is exchangeable, so the flight time can be increased by any number of batteries. One of the 1600mA/h batteries costs 15 Euro at the manufacturer.
The scope of delivery is a little economical. Two important things are even missing. Namely an SD card and a spare battery.
Since the battery has a capacity of only 1600mA/h, especially in adverse weather and low temperatures, the flight time is expected to be limited to 15 minutes. A second battery would have been very nice.
Included in the delivery are the drone with remote control and manual. The manual is unfortunately only available in English. Also included is a USB charging cable, spare propeller, three AAA batteries for the remote control and a screwdriver for mounting the propellers. However, there is also a bag from the manufacturer, which you can buy additionally.
The quality of the images is ok. The front camera captures videos in Full HD and photos in 4K quality.
What we also liked very much is the possibility to adjust the camera during the flight and to change the angle. The disadvantages of the camera are obvious. In low light conditions the picture quality decreases rapidly. This is due to the small sensor of the camera, because there is too little light coming in.
However, every camera in this price range has to struggle with this problem and even the LED lighting on the snout of the drone cannot compensate for this.
Overall, the camera quality is a bit too low. The photo quality is good with 4K resolution. But the videos suffer a lot from the missing image stabilization. At a price of more than 100 Euro at least the electronic image stabilization would have been great.
Nevertheless, we are positively impressed by the idea of a double camera. The second camera can be used very well for orientation or for photos from a cool perspective.
The videos of the ground camera on the other hand look very bad. This is due to the missing image stabilization, low light incidence and the resolution of 1280 × 720.
After I unpacked and mounted the drone, the first start of the device follows. The battery took me about 2 hours to be fully charged. The charging process can take up to four hours depending on the available voltage and current.
The SG907 Pro UAV has proven itself in practical tests for control and flight behaviour. The take-off and landing functions very well, as does the navigation through the air.
By the way, the manufacturer states that this model can only be used in good weather. Therefore the drone may not be flown in rain or snow, because this model is not protected against water according to the IPX standard.
As the ZLRC SG907 Pro drone has a GPS/GLONASS module on board, it can be flown safely even in windy conditions, as this model balances itself in the air with the help of the GPS and thus remains calmly in the air.
Furthermore the ZLRC drone offers several intelligent flight modes, namely the orbit mode, follow-me mode, as well as a way-point flight. However, acceptable if you keep the price of this model in mind. More expensive drones like the DJI Mavic Mini perform the orbit mode much cleaner.
The control works via the remote control, the app and with the gesture control. The front camera is responsible for the image recognition of the gesture control. Unfortunately the ground camera does not record gestures.
The comparison shows that ZLRC is very strong with the SG907 Pro in terms of price and performance. The drone has some clear weaknesses, such as the lack of image stabilization. But for about 115 Euro you get a good package. If you need a really cheap drone, ZLRC SG907 Pro is the right choice.
