Ulefone Armor 5 IP68 Rugged Smartphone

The time has come: the controversially discussed Notch is catching up in the last corner of the smartphone industry. After first equipment in the high-end segment and the upper middle class were equipped with a Notch, the trend continued steadily in the rest of the middle class and now even in the entry-level area. Who hoped that outdoor smartphones will be spared by the Notch, was wrong. The first Outdoor China phone with Notch comes from Ulefone and is named Armor 5. The Armor 5 is the successor to the end of 2017 presented Ulefone Armor 2 on.

Ulefone relies on the Armor 5 to a completely new design, which tries to combine the noble look of a smartphone with double-glass designs with that of a classic outdoor smartphone. The result is a rather idiosyncratic design – at least that’s our impression. Somehow, the Armor 5 looks like you’ve got a fat bumper strapped to your ordinary smartphone for protection. In addition, we critically see the glass back. Surely that looks pretty nice, but an outdoor smartphone should be stable. Glass, on the other hand, is a breaking point that will make the device less resilient than it could be. In our eyes, Ulefone should have been able to omit the rugged design and instead build a normal smartphone, which is just waterproof.

For the equipment of the Armor 5 Ulefone announced so far only a few basic data. The smartphone should be IP68 certified and equipped with the Mediatek Helio P23 alias MT6763. There is also a 5,000mAh battery and a dual camera on the back. This should provide a resolution of 16MP + 5MP. The display should have a diagonal of 5.85 inches. A fingerprint sensor can be found on the back under the camera module.
