Partaker B18

This new MiniPC Partaker B18 uses a chassis already widely used by the brand, a solution that measures 13.4 cm wide by 14.4 cm deep on a thickness of 6.4 cm. Inside, an Intel Core i9-9880H processor. A real little monster of performance.

The Core i9-9880H develops 8 cores and 16 threads in frequencies ranging from 2.3 to 4.8 GHz with no less than 16 MB of cache memory and an Intel UHD 630 graphics chip. Obviously, this chip operates in a rather high thermal envelope, 45 watts of TDP, which the Partaker dissipates thanks to the use of a large PC fan. A model closer to a desktop PC than the usual portable solutions.

The new Partaker B18 offers two DDR4 SoDIMM slots for up to 64 GB of memory. It is available in several versions with 8, 16 or 32 GB of RAM and storage ranging from 128 GB to 1 TB of SSD. The machine offers 3 storage slots with a first M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe slot, a second M.2 2280 slot that will be able to accommodate either an additional PCIe NVMe slot or a SATA 3.0 SSD and finally a classic 2.5″ SATA 3.0 slot. As you can see from the images, the various components are positioned on either side of the motherboard. Both for storage and RAM.

The connectivity is very complete with, on the front, two USB 3.1 type-A ports and a USB Type-C port as well as a 3.5 mm audio combo jack and the start button. On the back, there are two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two video outputs with one HDMI and one DisplayPort, two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 Type-A. A pair of external antennas will handle the supplied and upgradeable Wifi5 and Bluetooth 5.0 module.

The entire chassis is made of aluminum to better dissipate heat. Numerous vents placed on the top and bottom of the Partaker B18 will allow for easier heat exchange. Nevertheless, I remain circumspect about the cooling management of the machine. Not that I doubt the power of the cooling system to handle the relatively modest TDP of the processor, but rather the noise that the machine could generate during operation.
