Axis Flying is a new company specialized in the world of racers, in which we find former T-Motor. Their first machine is a Cinewhoop which is different from the competition. Instead of the usual 4 motors, there are 8 presented in coaxial. Why 8? To sell twice as many, some would say. But the promise of Axis Flying is to offer sensations in flight similar to those of a racer in 5 inches! However, it is a 2.5 inch that measures only 12.5 cm diagonal from engine to engine for dimensions of 17.8 x 15.4 x 5.2 cm …
The device rests on carbon plates of 2 mm thickness on which are fixed 8 brushless motors Axis Flying AF144, of 1404 to 4510KV for three-bladed propellers Gemfan D63-3. The manufacturer promises a hovering at 15% of throttle only, and a contained noise. Double protections of propellers allow the touches with obstacles with the hope of continuing the flight. The flight controller is a Mateksys F722-mini SE flashed with Betaflight. It has 5 UARTs, an altimeter barometer, a 32 MB Blackbox and 8 Dshot outputs. The data sheet does not indicate anything about the ESC.
The Air Force Pro X8 is offered in two versions. One in digital with a Vista box and a Nebula camera, for a weight of 280 grams. The other in analog with a Nano2 camera from RunCam and a video transmitter capable of 600 mW, for a weight of 258 grams. The device comes with a GoPro compatible mount… which doesn’t have to be a lightweight Naked model! Axis Flying promises 2 to 4 minutes of flight time for the analog version with a GoPro Hero6 Black, and 2 to 3min30 for the digital version. The recommended batteries are 4S from 850 to 1000 mAh. LEDs have been installed to facilitate flights in dimly lit interiors.
The device is offered in 4 versions: without analog radio receiver (you have to install your own), without digital radio receiver (you have to install your own or use directly the DJI radio control), or in analog and digital versions pre-equipped with a Crossfire Nano RX receiver from TBS. Camera mounts are available for download for 3D printing.
