This is the ninth projector released by BlitzWolf. The name BlitzWolf is certainly familiar to shopping fans in the Middle Kingdom. The brand belongs to the Chinese sales platform Banggood, but is also available on Aliexpress, Amazon. More specifically, the relatively fresh model BlitzWolf BW-VP9, which offers, among other things, a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, two built-in speakers, keystone adjustment and the ability to play materials directly from a flash drive.
The BlitzWolf BW-VP9 is a unit measuring 300 x 130 x 225 (width x height x depth) millimeters and weighing approximately 2.8 kilograms. We are talking about a projector using LCD technology and a led lamp, which is declared to last 40 000 hours. As I mentioned earlier, we are talking about native Full HD resolution, and we can choose the projection size from 53 to 200 inches (projector-plane distance from 1.2 to 5 meters) at 16:9 aspect ratio. As for the other parameters, the contrast is 2000:1, and the manufacturer promises a brightness of 500 ANSI or 6500 lumens. Built-in speakers have a power of 5W each.
The BlitzWolf BW-VP9 makes a good first impression. The design of the housing, the fit of the elements and the materials used are exemplary. Nothing smells of “Chinese”. If the name of a more renowned, recognizable brand in Europe/Poland had been printed on the case, probably nobody would have known. The projector is almost entirely white, with black and gray accents. The plastic surface is slightly rough, and on the underside you will find four rubber, screwed-out feet (you can replace them on your own with others – the thread is universal). The control buttons are located on the top of the device and speak about the navigation arrows, Menu, OK and Undo keys. The switch is located on the back of the device, just below the I/O panel. Slightly more functions are offered by the aforementioned black, matt remote control. Here are also the buttons mentioned above (including Power), and besides them there are the Mute, Settings, Source Selection, Louder/Silent, Home.
The set of connectors offered by the Chinese projector are two HDMI 1.4, one VGA (D-SUB), two USB 2.0, headset and AV connectors. All of them are placed on the panel on the back of the device, including space for power cord. Next to it there is a hole with a sponge filter, through which air is sucked in to cool down the projector interior. The outlet is on the left side, closer to the front. The cooling system is based on an aluminum, richly ribbed heat sink (about 80 x 80 millimeters), through which four copper heat pipes of 6 millimeters diameter each pass. The whole is complemented by two unspecified fans – one standard, 90-millimetre thick 25-millimetre thick and the other slightly more massive, 93-millimetre thick 30-millimetre thick.
To sum up, the BlitzWolf BW-VP9 is a solidly constructed projector that offers Full HD resolution at a low price. The image quality and brightness is good, the sound quality and volume from the built-in speakers is satisfactory, and in the box you will find everything you need to connect your device to your computer, laptop or home theater. We are talking about the older VGA (D-SUB), RCA and newer HDMI standard. You can use the projector without dedicated screens, simply projecting a game or movie on a white wall. You also don’t need an extremely darkened room for this. The biggest disadvantage of the BlitzWolf BW-VP9 is its working culture – the fans used in the cooling system are quite loud and you can hear them while playing or watching, but they do not jam the game/video sounds. The quality (or rather lack of it) of the menu translation from English into Polish leaves a lot to be desired. Even Google Translate would probably do better.
