The image above is the “CHUWI CoreBox i5” with Core i5-5257U, but the “CoreBox X” with 6th generation Core i7-6560U has been released as a mini PC of the CoreBox series that uses the same body, following the CoreBox i5 and the “CoreBox Pro” with 10th generation Core i3-1005G1 that we reported the other day. The new CoreBox X mini PC was equipped with the 6th generation Core i7-6560U has been released.
While the SSD in the CoreBox i5 is a SATA connection, both CoreBox Pro and CoreBox X feature a faster NVMe-compatible PCIe SSD as standard equipment. It may seem that the CoreBox i5 and CoreBox X are not much different in terms of experience response in daily use, but I compared the specifications of these three products.
As you can see in the following article, I own a CoreBox i5 and also own a GT Box that uses the same body and is not currently available. Since it uses the body of CHUWI Higame, which originally had an external GPU, it is, for better or worse, large for a mini PC.
The specs are in order, but here are some comments on the specs and price
This is the actual review article of MINISFORUM X35G which is quoted above and has Core i3-1005G1 like CoreBox Pro. It is smaller and quieter than the CoreBox Pro, so depending on the review of the CoreBox Pro (quietness, speed of PCIe SSD), I think the MINISFORUM X35G may be a good choice.
This is an extreme case, but it’s a side-by-side comparison of my CoreBox i5 and a CHUWI LarkBox. The CoreBox series doesn’t have a USB port on the front, which is somewhat inconvenient for me as I frequently attach and detach USB devices.
This is the CPU fan and heat sink of the CoreBox i5. Due to the large size of the body and cooling mechanism, it is indeed well cooled. However, the volume of the fan is loud, and one point of concern for both CoreBox Pro / X is quietness (without checking the actual device, it is not clear).
The CoreBox X with Core i7-6560U was released by CHUWI. The price is not much different from the higher-end CoreBox Pro, and the experience response for light use is slightly superior to that of CoreBox i5 (I’m not sure if you can feel it), so my recommendation for the CoreBox series is CoreBox Pro or inexpensive CoreBox i5. The lowest price of CoreBox i5 is as follows.
