With the singles’ party now in full swing, Chuwi has not shied away from the technological tussle and, to mark the occasion, has unveiled two new products in a launch offer, including the entry level notebook GemiBook Pro, and the office miniPC CoreBox Pro.
In anticipation of Black Friday, it is the Chinese Single Day that has excited technology shopping fans who, in these hours, needing a good computer without spending too much, can also rely on the new notebook GemiBook Pro or the miniPC CoreBox Pro, designed by Chinese Chuwi with Windows 10 Home on board.
Offered as a launch offer on Aliexpress, the GemiBook Pro, an evolution of a model seen last September, has a thin (310 x 229.5 x 20.6 mm) and light (1.5 kg) metal chassis, however equipped with several I/O ports, including the power input, the 3.5 mm jack, a microSD card reader, a USB 3.0 Type-A and a USB Type-C. Wide open, under a 1-megapixel webcam, the 14-inch IPS LCD display is immediately noticeable, resolved to 2K (2160 x 1440 pixels) in a 3:2 widescreen aspect ratio that is very useful for scrolling through content vertically, and well “covered” in terms of colour (72% on the NTSC scale).
The Chuwi GemiBook Pro (330.21 euros) is powered by a 38Wh battery under the backlit keyboard and is powered by the quadcore Intel Celeron J4125 processor (2 to 2.7 GHz) of the Gemini Lake Refresh generation, made at 14 nanometers but very energy efficient (10W TDP), including an integrated GPU UHD Graphics 600, capable of supporting video streams in 4K@60fps. The Chuwi GemiBook Pro comes with Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi ax/6 connectivity, 16 GB of RAM (LPDDR4X) and a 512 GB SSD for storage, with the option of adding up to 1 TB of SSD (M.2) via an easily accessible slot below.
Moving on to the miniPC category, the compact (173 x 158 x 73 mm, 2 litres volume, 901 grams) Chuwi CoreBox Pro (on the brand’s official website, on launch offer at $439, vs. $479 final), sequel to last May’s model, can be placed horizontally or vertically, providing four USB 3. 0, two 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks, two Gigabit Ethernet LANs and, for connecting up to three 4K@30fps displays, a Display Port, HDMI, and Thunderbolt 3 (also useful for transferring data at 40GB/s, or connecting an external GPU).
In the case (aluminium/magnesium/polycarbonate, in sidereal grey/black) of the Chuwi CoreBox Pro miniPC, which features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity (via Intel AX200 modem), the processor chosen is the quadcore (from 1. 2 to 3.4 GHz) Intel i3-1005G1 10th generation processor, at 15W TDP, with internal UHD GPU, supported by 12 GB of RAM (LPDDR4) and, as for storage, 256 GB of SSD (NVMe), extendable by inserting a solid state hard drive M.2 2280.
