CHUWI announced the upcoming launch of HeroBox mini-PC at Amazon’s online store. HeroBox is an updated version of the mini-computer GBox Pro, enclosed in a compact metal case and equipped with Intel Celeron N4100 Gemini Lake processor, 8 GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 180 GB SSD and a large set of interfaces. In addition to office work and watching videos, the laptop is also suitable for many other uses.
The Gemini Lake generation Intel Celeron N4100 processor with up to 2.4 GHz clock speed provides high performance with low power consumption. The integrated mobile graphics card UHD Graphics 600 demonstrates twice the performance of its predecessor, has 12 processing units and has support for 10-bit HEVC and VP9 hardware acceleration.
In terms of memory, LPDDR4 exceeds the DDR3 standard in speed and energy efficiency. The HeroBox features a 180GB Intel SSD that delivers up to three times the read and write speeds of the fastest hard drives. This enables applications to run faster than ever before.
HeroBox communication capabilities include a Type-C multifunctional port, two USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports each, a microSD card slot, HDMI, VGA and other interfaces for connecting external devices.
Mini-PC HeroBox runs on Windows 10, which is best suited for office work and entertainment. In addition, to meet the needs of engineers and other user groups, the computer supports Linux and Ubuntu.
In addition to being used as a normal mini-PC, the HeroBox can also be used for other tasks. The ability of the processor and graphics to process 4K videos with high performance will come in handy when using the device as a home theater.
The HeroBox has VESA-ready mounting holes, allowing it to be mounted on the back of your monitor or TV, making it a monoblock. With a low CPU power consumption of less than 10W, HeroBox can be used as a NAS. In addition to 180GB of SSD, you can connect the drive with up to 2TB of capacity via SATA interface.
Let us remind you that a similar configuration of the Intel NUC6CAYH mini-PC of the NUC family is supplied without RAM and SSD. Users should purchase these components themselves for an additional fee. HeroBox, on the contrary, is equipped with memory in combination of 8 GB RAM and 180 GB SSD, which are usually enough for everyday work and entertainment. In addition, the computer Intel NUC6CAYH installed an older processor Intel Celeron J3455 with HD Graphics 500 graphics and memory of the previous generation DDR3L. Besides the fact that Intel NUC6CAYH is inferior to HeroBox in terms of technical characteristics and performance, it is even more expensive.
So, HeroBox with its excellent performance and graphics can be used in different scenarios and for different purposes. The metallic case of the computer, passive cooling and a variety of interfaces make it a great purchase. It is reported that the HeroBox mini-PC will soon be available in Japan. The price of the computer will be about $200, which is a strong argument in favor of buying this inexpensive mini-PC.
