Xiaomi Deerma DH206 Folding Electric Kettle

The Chinese cook only with water, but their kettles play in a completely different league. After the Xiaomi Bluetooth kettle, the foldable Deerma DH206 kettle has caught our eye. But why is it necessary to fold a kettle?

So that we can explain the function, let’s have a look at the Deerma kettle. The cylindrical design appears in roughly three different elements. The base has a diameter of 18 cm, the height of 2 cm is hardly noticeable. Above it there is actually a touch screen, which is used for the whole operation of the kettle.

The centre piece makes the kettle foldable and is obviously made of silicone. The “lid” offers space for the spout as well as a removable handle. The colour combination of white, grey and red reminds us of other products from the Xiaomi universe like the RoboRock S6 or JIMMY JV51.

This design gives the Deerma DH206 kettle its great advantage: it is foldable. You can compress it very easily, the silicone gives way and the base and lid connect. So of course the question arises why you have to fold a kettle? This increases the portability, as the volume is reduced by an estimated 50% to 9.4cm height. So it fits better in your backpack or suitcase when you’re on a longer trip. In its “normal” state, the kettle measures 19.4 cm in height. A carrying bag is included for transport.

An example of use is given by the product photos: Mothers can also prepare follow-on milk for their child on trips or trips. In principle, however, this is practical for any type of trip, as it is always an advantage to save space.

But for this you need a power connection, the power supply via a power bank would not be sufficient for the 850W power. After all, the foldable Deerma DH206 kettle can heat 600 ml up to 90°C. The water is heated up to 90°C by a power bank. This process should take 7 minutes, so it’s not a kettle. According to the manufacturer, there is no need to worry about plasticizers or similar harmful substances, as the kettle is RoHS certified and FDA approved.

To be on the safe side, you can also start decalcifying the water from the control panel mentioned above. This probably requires an appropriate agent. Otherwise the cooking process can of course be started via the touch screen, the temperature can be set/displayed or the heat retention function can be set.

Especially if you are away with children for a longer period of time, you usually have to pack a lot. So it’s handy that you can quickly reduce the Deerma DH206 to half its size. This is certainly also an advantage for campers, as the foldable kettle is quickly stowed away. The fact that it even gets by with a touch screen is a luxury that you don’t necessarily get with normal kettles. But for that you also have to lose a lot of power, because commercial kettles are usually cheaper and more powerful. Moreover, the application areas are relatively limited and the filling quantity of 0.6 L is really quite small.
