The FDM printing process, which is also used here with the Easythreed X1 Mini, is the most widely used 3D printing process worldwide. Here, a roll with a filament, i.e. a thread made of plastic with, in this case, 1.75 millimeters thick is used. This filament is fed into the extruder from above or from the side and heated. This melts the plastic and, in principle, can be applied like with a hot glue gun. Of course, 3D printers do this much more precisely than we humans can do by hand. However, with the Easythreed X1 Mini it is only possible to print filaments that do not require a print bed heating. PLA, possibly also TPU without retraction, i.e. filament withdrawal, should be possible without any problems! Filaments like ABS, which require a heated print bed or PETG, which requires special cooling, you should perhaps distance yourself. You won’t be able to print these filaments well here. PLA is the preferred filament for the Easythreed X1 Mini and can be printed very well with it.

What are we most interested in? Clear! The print quality! I made myself a little smart! Can the small, cute 3D printer keep up with larger competitors? Well, not entirely. But the print quality is actually better than some 3D printers, which cost many times more. For the price of well under 100 euros you can get a 3D printer here, which paves the way for 3D printing! The print results are really impressive! The whole thing can also be significantly improved by attaching a cooler to the extruder. But I think that this printer is aimed primarily at people who want to print themselves a little something now and then! I really think that people who are still very skeptical right now could be convinced of the printing results.

The Easythreed X1 Mini is extremely easy to use. A control unit is included in the scope of delivery, which is equipped with 4 buttons. A home button that resets the Z axis to the start position. A plus and a minus button, which are used to control the temperature or to heat the nozzle. And, last but not least, a start button. This then starts printing. I was not quite sure whether, if you want to print from the memory card, you can only have one object on the memory card or whether you can also select something. However, no display is installed on this 3D printer. That would make choosing a print much more difficult. Perhaps I will find more information about this in the future.

The construction of the small 3D printer is very simple. The setup of printers like the Creality Ender 3 is very quick and easy. The Easythreed X1 Mini breaks all records here. You have to plug in exactly one cable and tighten two screws and the printer is ready and I am almost ready to print! Well, a little thing remains to be mentioned, the print bed should of course be leveled so that the nozzle distance to the print bed also fits and the filament holds. Once that is done, the happy prints can start! I have never seen a printer that is quicker to set up and ready to go. The setup should pose no problems even for the absolute beginner. No technical knowledge is required.

This actually says everything about this printer. Who is this small 3D printer aimed at now? Especially for people who like to tinker and maybe want to print something out every now and then. He may also be a child, the first small 3D printer. If you really want to print effectively and a lot, you should rather use the Ender 3 or similar 3D printer. BUT! The printing result that this little guy delivers is so good that it is worthwhile for advanced users as a kind of second printer. All in all, the Easythreed X1 Mini is a great 3D printer for a price well below 100 euros. The feedback from some reviewers was almost entirely positive. I think you really can’t go wrong here and you will have fun with the small device. So all in all one can speak of a safe purchase recommendation!
