In this article I present the huge 3D printer kit Geeetech A30M. I will go into the technical data, the scope of delivery and the construction.
Transparency: Since we don’t own the 3D printer ourselves yet, we would like to make it clear in advance that this is not a Geeetech A30M test. But we have researched this 3D printer extensively and would like to give you and other users a first impression of the device and its strengths and weaknesses.
The A30M from Geeetech is a FDM 3D printer kit that belongs to the rather larger printers with a space of 320 mm x 320 mm x 420 mm. As a printer that can print in two colors or with two materials, it is probably the biggest on the market (or not?).
The A30M is powered by a 24V power supply. It creates a maximum heating bed temperature of 110°C and the maximum extruder temperature is 250°C.
The heating bed of the Geeetech Giant is coated and with the possibility of upgrading to a BL-Touch sensor, the levelling of the bed can be done quasi automatically.
The Geeetech A30M is a dual printer like the other M-Series kits from Geeetech. With this one you can – as already mentioned – print either two compatible materials or two colours at the same time. All M-printers use one nozzle each, in which the different colours are mixed. With the additional software from Geeetech it is even possible to actually achieve a desired mixing ratio.
One feature that I have not seen in any other kit so far is that the printer can be assigned a PIN. This means that only the group of people who know the PIN can use the printer. For home use, this would certainly be worth considering when children are around. But in schools, fablabs or companies this feature is certainly good to use.
Not much is known yet about the construction of the printer, but based on the two brothers, cousins? A10M and A20M this act should not be too long.
