JUMPER EZbook X3 Laptop

The Jumper EZbook X3 is my first experience with a completely Chinese computer. And I immediately hit the bull’s-eye. Looking ahead, I will say that I am delighted. It has practically no flaws, against the background of the most important plus – prices.

I am completely sitting on macOS. I only need Windows for two tasks: to flash Xiaomi smartphones and edit the code in Notepad++. There is no such powerful editor compatible with all formats on a poppy.

In addition, if you buy a laptop on Windows, I would like a normal display: from 13 inches with Full-HD resolution. It is more pleasant to work with such a screen, and most importantly, it is more productive.

Well, the last requirement – the computer should cost the available money, within $300. Not long searches brought me to the Jumper EZbook X3. The control was in his head that he had a processor from the new Intel line – Celeron N3350 Apollo Lake. Still, it’s interesting what replaced the omnipresent Atom X5-8300.

In the most ordinary box of technical cardboard carefully packed laptop. Experiencing for its safety is not worth it, because inside a lot of foam. From the kit itself is the computer itself and charging (12 V, 2 A). It is slightly larger than that of a smartphone, but much smaller than the classic notebook.

Design

Jumper EZbook X3 is the most common laptop. Nothing betrays its Chinese nature. Is it strange to see the manufacturer’s unknown hitherto logo on the top cover, instead of the usual “Asus” “Acer” and so on.

The body is entirely plastic, there is not a single gram of metal. And what did you want for $190, but what exactly is the laptop worth now?

On the bottom of the laptop is the same plastic as on the top cover. And we all know that usually there comes some kind of ultra-cheap, don’t get that black. Like, no one sees the bottom anyway, save on materials. Fortunately, the Jumper engineers did not follow the path of Dell, Acer, HP and other economists.

Plastic burrs, curved holes in the body – all this is not here. Yes, if you wish, you can find where to find fault. For example, I found several parts that did not fit snugly together, it was possible to stick the hair in there. This drawbacks end up.

With the exception of the keyboard – it is slightly pumped up. First, she is stumpy. On the other hand, for this you need to specifically put pressure on her. During typing, the deflection is not felt.

Secondly, the key response is clearly not purebred. It’s useless to compare with MacBook. The buttons in the EZbook X3 are tapped, slightly play, but this, again, does not affect the speed and convenience of typing.

Thirdly, you need to do engraving or buy stickers with Russian characters. I was not steamed, for I type blindly.

Otherwise, the keyboard is comfortable. The keys are large, full-size. Even with the navigation buttons there are no special problems – to find them easily and blindly.

The touch-pad is very ordinary. There are no drivers from Synaptics here, so the touch panel is slightly oak and not very sensitive. From multitouch gestures, only two-finger scrolling is supported. The undemanding user will not notice anything, and I would advise those who are accustomed to the best touchpads to connect a mouse. You can wireless, the benefit of Bluetooth is there.

Very cool that the Chinese decided to make the frames around the screen minimal. They are about 9 millimeters here, and then, they create a certain airiness of the structure.

Apparently because of the minimal framework, the webcam was moved to the lower left corner. She is incredibly awful by the way. Even for web conferences I would not use it, because it is a real shame. If necessary, it is better to purchase a separate device.

Display

One of the key points for me. 14-inches is almost the perfect diagonal for a working laptop. 12″ – 13″ – this is not enough, but the 15-inch cars are already cumbersome. Constantly you will reflect on the topic, and whether to take such a band today with you, or you can interrupt.

Resolution is also an extremely important point. And here Jumper EZbook X3 did not disappoint. 1920 x 1080 pixels provide excellent detail and zoom. Yes, and the desktop will fit more information.

Not IPS, therefore, the viewing angles are quite narrow. The picture looks good at a right angle, but it is worthwhile to deflect the lid away from you, or vice versa – to yourself, as soon as the inversion appears. Colors float, darken or mist.

If you plan to jointly watch a movie with your soulmate – this is not about Jumper EZbook X3. The device is for one person only and that’s it.

Well, that the display surface is matte. On this there will be no sun glare, which means that comfortable work, even with a back to the window, is assured.

Unfortunately, the keyboard is not deep enough recessed into the body, so the traces of the buttons are printed on the screen. On the other hand, for many brands, this children’s disease is still not defeated.

Elastics that protect the friction of the screen lid, also leave small traces on the inside of the case. Fortunately, they quickly erased with a finger.

Performance

Do not buy a Jumper EZbook X3 for games. It created clearly not for them. The maximum of what will be able to play is the first episode of Left 4 Dead on medium and no higher graphics settings.

But to watch the video (up to 4K) – this is please. Seriously, through the Edge browser 4K content is perfectly reproduced, not a single delay.

I decided to install Photoshop CC 2017 and see how the photo processing machine does it. He opened 17 photos at a resolution of 20.3 megapixels (JPG format) and made their simplest processing: small color adjustment, cropping, resize and watermark overlay. By the way, I processed almost all the photos from the review on EZbook X3.

Yes, the laptop slightly slowed down, and, in parallel, the Steam client was being unpacked in the background, but even in such conditions it is still possible to work in “Photoshop”. I would not constantly edit large volumes of photos with a bunch of layers, yet the speed and efficiency of work are very important criteria for me. However, tweaking a couple of pictures from time to time is easy.

I made the basic setting of the OS, put a few applications and in this state the full load took 27 seconds. I think after a year of work it will load a minute or so. But it’s still not bad. For such and such iron.

Office applications, mail, programming, firmware and device testing, social network clients, SMM – that’s what our hero is for. He easily pulls all such tasks. And for 10 thousand rubles – this is almost an ideal tool that will pay for itself very quickly.

Sound

This is one of the most embarrassing moments for all Chinese devices. Usually, the dynamics in such machines seem to be there, but their quality, to put it mildly, leaves much to be desired.

Surprisingly, two quite decent speakers were installed in the Jumper EZbook X3. The volume is above average and even at its maximum value there are no wheezing, noises, or other crime.

I would not listen to music through the speakers, after all there are portable speakers for this, and there is not enough reserve for low frequencies. But watching a movie, a YouTube video is no problem!

Battery

I had no doubt that the computer would be able to work offline for 5-6 hours, but I was worried about the quality of the battery itself. I thought the battery would constantly display the wrong capacity, quickly discharge in sleep mode or fool in some other way. Partly the way it happened.

Maybe the power controller was faulty, or maybe it’s just a software glitch – I don’t know. However, there were no other problems. With autonomy all the more.

The endless scrolling of online video in Full HD resolution in my case “consumed” the entire charge in 5.5 hours.

Summary

It would be possible to draw a conclusion in the form of a listing of the pros and cons, but for a little more than $280 the computer has no negative sides. If you do not assume that the glitch with the battery charge, which was lucky, most likely, just me.

In any case, it is useless to find fault with him, and it makes no sense. The price here decides and the expense of it. Jumper EZbook X3 tears all its competitors to pieces. Moreover, even their Chinese counterparts. For example, Chuwi Lapbook SE – an exact copy of our hero costs $240. As they say, why pay more?

I really liked the laptop. I needed Windows in a portable case and with a good screen (diagonal resolution) and I got what I wanted. In fact, even more. After all, as it turned out, the Jumper EZbook X3 is a normal working computer that can perform any office and not only tasks. He’s just very cheap. And best of all, this accessibility does not affect the quality.
