Ninebot F40 10.2Ah 350W Folding Electric Scooter

Launched via a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.com, the new Ninebot branded scooter has now arrived on offer at Banggood. The Ninebot KickScooter F40 (or F40E), is one of Ninebot’s most affordable scooters with 10-inch wheels. The design probably looks familiar, as it’s a mix between the old Ninebot scooters (ES1 and ES2, for those who remember) and Xiaomi’s famous M365. Personally, I think it looks very good and I think it may be a better option than the Xiaomi Mi Pro 3, the model Xiaomi can compare it to, in terms of specs but also price.

The Ninebot KickScooter F40 can also be found under the name Ninebot KickScooter F40E, this version is intended for the European market. In terms of appearance or specifications, there is almost no difference between the two, but the F40 version (the one sold by Banggood) can reach a top speed of 30 km/h, while the European version is limited to 25 km/h (F40E).

Getting past these details, the Ninebot F40 is a model that promises a range of up to 40 kilometres, while the 367 Wh (10.2 Ah) battery needs 6.5 hours for a full charge. The folding system appears to be similar to Xiaomi’s, as does the display on the handlebars that shows information on usage mode, battery capacity, current speed or distance travelled. All this information is also available in the mobile app, from where you can update the firmware or enable/disable some features.

In terms of safety, the scooter is equipped with a disc brake on the rear wheel as well as a regenerative brake – which activates when decelerating and not only slows down but also charges the scooter’s battery. There’s no shortage of 2.5W LED headlamps at the front and an LED bumper on the rear fender.

The 350W motor, integrated in the front wheel, makes the scooter capable of reaching a top speed of 30 km/h and can climb slopes up to 20% incline. Even though it has no suspension, the 10-inch wheels make a difference when it comes to comfort and safety, which is the main reason why I would choose this model over Xiaomi. It can support a weight of up to 120 kilograms and it weighs 17 kilograms.
