Leaks and unofficial information about the first Nokia with a hole can be put between fairy tales – Nokia X71 has just appeared on the market, which we will know in Europe under a different name, probably Nokia 8.1 Plus. It’s time to get to know the look, specification and price of the latest model returning HMD Global.
Let’s start with the visual side of Nokia X71, which clearly refers to the successful Nokia 7 Plus – the latest smartphone has been given an elegantly tailored case with a copper frame and a camera placed in a vertical configuration. It looks very good, and the perceptive will also notice a slightly larger rounding of the corners of the structure.
The biggest change was in the front of the smartphone, which consists of a 6.39-inch Pure Display IPS screen gifted with Full HD+ resolution (2316×1080) and 19.3:9 aspect ratio, which can be considered a consequence of the introduction of a familiar hole in the upper left corner of the matrix.
The manufacturer assures that thanks to the use of a round cut-out, the screen takes up to 93% of the front panel, but the real factor may be slightly lower. Inside the touch there is a 16 MP selfie camera.
The Nokia X71 is powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor, a popular unit used in many cult mediums. The chipset has great performance and delivers solid power in all situations, but HMD Global could have opted for a newer SoC. This could be Snapdragon 710 – we can find it even in older Nokia 8.1.
There was 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory with the option of further expansion. It is powered by a 3500 mAh lithium-ion battery, so you should have enough power for at least one working day. The cell will be topped up with a C-type USB port and 18 W charging.
Going further, we will come across a triple ZEISS camera in the following configuration:
The optical facilities are presented on paper very solidly, so it’s time to wait for the first pictures taken with the new Nokia camera.
Medium also offers a fingerprint reader, headphone connector, single speaker with Audio Nokia OZO technology, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 5.0. All this is enclosed in a 157.19×76.45×7.98 mm enclosure weighing 180 g.
