POCO is Xiaomi’s main price/performance sub-brand, and after the release of the overseas version of the Redmi K30 – POCO X2 – in February, there were rumors that the POCO F2 Pro would be released soon as the new flagship. But it doesn’t look like there’s just one model of the POCO F2 Pro, there’s another one coming soon.
On May 6, a new device called POCO M2 Pro appeared on an Indian website, according to outside media reports.
According to the report, the website lists the SAR test data of Xiaomi’s new POCO M2 Pro, the device model “M2003J6CI”. According to the analysis, the device is codenamed “gram” and also shows the firmware “gram_in_global”, which indicates that the phone will be available in India.
Interestingly, the code name “gram” also used to appear in the Redmi Note 9 Pro kernel source code, and the watermark of “gram” also appears in the firmware of the Redmi Note 9 Pro.
Since the Note 9 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G, it’s speculated that the upcoming POCO M2 Pro could also feature the same SOC, but that’s not certain at this point. What is certain though is that the POCO M2 Pro will be a mid-range smartphone with a Snapdragon 7 series processor.
