After the Oppo subsidiary Realme had previously produced smartphones for the budget and mid-range segment, the high-end segment is now following suit. With the Realme X2 Pro the manufacturer releases its first own flagship.
Unfortunately not all technical details and photos of the Realme X2 Pro are known yet, but there are already many confirmed info. Even if the display diagonal is still concealed, the screen should deliver a Full HD+ resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels in a 20:9 aspect ratio. This would make it a bit thinner and longer than many comparable smartphones, but the OnePlus 7T uses the same aspect ratio.
But what is special here is the refresh rate. Realme equips the flagship smartphone with a 90 Hz panel, which probably also supports a fingerprint sensor in the display. Due to the higher refresh rate, animations and the general handling appear a little more fluid. This makes it the first smartphone with a 90 Hz display in its price range. You might want to install the front camera in a waterdrop notch. A more experimental design with the pop-up cam like the Realme X seems to be abandoned.
A corresponding processor is indispensable for a top model. In the Realme X2 Pro sits the big surprise, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor. This is a slightly higher clocked version of the 855 with 15% better graphics performance, which is also used in the so-called OnePlus 7T or Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro. We expect at least 6 GB RAM here, the internal memory probably varies between 64 and 128 GB – but there is no official information on that yet.
Realme has officially published the information about the camera. We can expect a quad camera setup, which uses the Samsung GW1 sensor with 64 megapixel resolution as the main sensor. It also found its way into the Redmi Note 8 Pro. The Oppo subsidiary combines the high-resolution primary sensor with an ultra-wide angle camera that offers a 115° shooting angle and can apparently also be used for macro photography. The third sensor also offers a native focal length, after all it’s a tele-camera that is supposed to enable a 20x hybrid zoom. The fourth sensor only provides additional depth information in portrait mode.
Otherwise hardly anything is known about the technical equipment and the design. What’s clear is that it’s the first Realme smartphone with NFC (finally). The battery size has not been communicated yet, but Oppos support for VOOC 4.0 Fast Charging with 30W seems to be set. Also ColorOS, which is based on Android 9 at least, will be pre-installed again. You can read some impressions about the Realme operating system in our test for the Realme 3 Pro.
Finally Realme dares to jump into the flagship area and they seem to have an ace up their sleeves. Especially the 90 Hz display is a unique selling point that even places you in front of Xiaomi – strong. We also know that the Realme smartphones offer clean workmanship and shoot good to very good photos. Further details on the flagship will be published by October 4, and it will probably be presented in its entirety. We will keep you up to date on this.
