Xiaomi Redmi AC2100 Gigabit Router

Although all operators assign or rent your own router when you hire the Internet connection (either ADSL or fiber), nothing prevents you from changing it to one of those offered by manufacturers such as ASUS, Huawei or Xiaomi. Precisely the sub-brand of the latter, Redmi, has taken advantage of the launch event of the Redmi K30, to debut in the router segment and announce a new equipment that, for now, will go on sale in China this week.

This is the Redmi AC2100, a router that shares nomenclature with an existing Xiaomi proposal , but whose design and features are completely different. The possibility of connecting up to 128 devices and reaching a speed of 2033 Mbps are among its virtues.

With dimensions of 259 x 176 x 184 mm, the new Redmi AC2100 router has a rectangular shape with perforations at the top and bottom to promote heat dissipation. It has six high gain omnidirectional antennas (5 dBi) and six high performance signal amplifiers. It integrates WiFi Dual Band, so it operates in both the 2.4GHz band (300 Mbps) and the 5GHz band (1,733 Mbps).

It is powered by a 800 MHz dual-core CPU that is combined with 128 MB of RAM and includes anti-spying functions to protect security cameras and smart speakers. In addition, Redmi ensures that it supports the IPv6 protocol and supports automatic IP address configuration.

This router allows a maximum of 128 devices to be connected and, in case there are children in the home, it offers the option to configure the usage time, URL ranges and history with the new Xiaomi Mi WiFi 5.0 application. This app, available for iOS and Android, also notifies us every time a new device connects to the router.

In addition, it is compatible with the Mi Home application and has been optimized to run smoothly with Xiaomi smart home devices. In fact, Redmi ensures that its home automation devices connect automatically without entering passwords.
