Roidmi NEX 2 Pro cordless vacuum cleaner with an OLED display to showcase the cleaning status of the machines in real-time

Suck and wipe at the same time, high suction power, top design and workmanship. This was what the Roidmi NEX stood for when it hit the market in 2019. The second generation of the successful model has now been presented in two versions (NEX 2 and NEX 2 Pro). We have gathered all the information known so far. Better than the predecessor?

There is a lot to be said for Roidmi keeping the top specs of the first generation NEX and only adding new features and functions, as well as making improvements. At the same time vacuuming and wiping, app control (meaningless for battery vacuum cleaners) and LED lights (turn on when darkness is detected around the floor nozzle ) are again part of the game.

Roidmi is part of the Xiaomi ecosystem and produces cordless vacuum cleaners for the Chinese tech giant. The latter apparently requested a second generation of the NEX series and received two versions – one with (Pro) and one without a display. Displays currently seem to be very popular in China, so now after the Roborock H6, Roidmi also joined OLED team.

This technical gimmick is modeled on the suction cups of established manufacturers in Germany such as Dyson with the V11 Absolute or Tineco with the Pure One S12 Plus. But this gimmick also has its uses. For example, prospective owners of a Roidmi NEX 2 Pro can use the display to understand some information that would otherwise only be vague or impossible to understand.

It is not yet entirely clear whether the information on the 0.55 L dust chamber also includes the fill level, but it would be very practical. As with the Roborock H6, the display was attached above the handle.

The suction power of the Pro version should be 26,500 pa (150 AW). Thanks to the new Engine-X 2.0 engine, it should be able to measure itself against the powerful Dyson V11 Absolute (24,000 pa, 140 AW). Unfortunately, also in terms of volume: 77 dB at the highest of three suction levels is hard on the border to the unbearable.

The cheaper version without Pro in the name is in the typical Xiaomi white and has no OLED, but “only” installed an LED display. In addition, it has a little less suction power (25,000 pa) and the flexible extension with animal hair attachment is missing in the scope of delivery. Dust chamber size, weight, dimensions and dust chamber size could also vary, but there is not yet enough reliable information.

Like many other cordless vacuum cleaners, the new Roidmi generation can be switched to a hand-held vacuum cleaner with a click lock. A mite attachment is also included, which removes dust mites and dust from textiles, which is primarily relevant for allergy sufferers.

On the subject of app control with a cordless vacuum cleaner: I would like to be instructed otherwise, but find it pointless to spend more on a model just because you can use an app to understand the remaining battery life more precisely. As much as I like to integrate products in my Xiaomi Home app ( Android , iOS ), I don’t think that has to be the case with a vacuum cleaner. Alternatively, the in-house APP “Roidmi” ( Android , iOS ) is also available.

Yes, and how. The product is currently only available to Chinese buyers, but should also make the international leap in the next few weeks. Xiaomiyoupin currently pays 2099 yuan, the equivalent of just under $300. It is foreseeable that the price will be significantly higher for us.

The previous model NEX already costs $350, an upgrade model could be around $380. And then we are talking about a price that should be considered twice. Despite the fact that the Roidmi NEX 2 Pro has the potential to become one of the best models on the market .

Personally, I like the manufacturer Roidmi very much, so far the models have always been top quality and kept what they promised. Devices with which one could be very satisfied after the not so pleasant payment.
