Umidigi renews its phone catalog for the third half of 2018. We already have the official characteristics of the new Umidigi A3 Max, which will be your mid-range mobile phone for Christmas. From year to year it improves in all sections, from its screen that grows to 6.2 inches, the internal processor that adds artificial intelligence functions and the double rear camera, which incorporates a sensor of up to 20 megapixels and where the recognition of scenes should improve notably the photographic section, which in the previous model was somewhat short.

Until we test it in depth in our review we will not be able to determine the scope of the improvements introduced in this Umidigi A3 Max, but the truth is that the middle range is getting better and better. It is something that happens every year but we are glad that the mobile phone manufacturers continue to significantly increase the characteristics of their terminals. Let’s see what the A3 Max offers.

Glass body and 6.2-inch screen with ‘Water drop screen’

The Umidigi A3 Max range is characterized by having a generous screen size but perhaps what we have in the A3 Max goes beyond what we thought. We have a 6.2-inch display with FullHD+ resolution and a 19.5: 9 format. The body of the device is only four millimeters higher than the previous Umidigi A3 Plus, despite incorporating something more than half an extra inch of screen. The lower edge has been reduced to 4.25mm.

Inside the Umidigi A3 Max we have the new Helio P23 processor, a rival of the Snapdragon 660 and equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities. It is the same chip that we see in the Umidigi One Pro, which would be its counterpart in the other Chinese manufacturer. The truth is that it is appreciated to see how both are leaving behind the chip Helio P20 (MTK6763).

Accompanying the processor the Umidigi A3 Max offers two versions. The base version comes with 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of storage and then we will have another version with 6GB and 128GB of storage, the two models expandable by microSD. It is also a real dual SIM terminal, so we will not lose the space for the memory card in any case.

Regarding the battery, 4000 mAh is added with support for fast charging. We do not have NFC or radioFM, but we have a rear fingerprint reader and Turbo GPU together with Android 8.1 Oreo.

Dual camera with 20MP and scene recognition

As with the Umidigi Z2 or the new Z2 Pro, this Umidigi A3 Max adds artificial intelligence functions to the camera thanks to the Helio P20 being able to do so. In the back we have a main sensor of 20 megapixels with an aperture lens f/1.8 and a secondary camera of two megapixels to create the portrait mode. FlashLED is added and we will have up to 500 different scenes identified.

For the video we do not have optical stabilization but we do have the possibility to record in super slow motion 480 fps. For the front camera we opt for a 16 megapixel sensor with an aperture lens f/2.0, beauty mode and 4-in-1 pixel binning.

Yes, it is true that this mobile had already been announced and the rumors are true, since today a render of the next UMIDIGI terminal has escaped. In the images we can see that the screen has the representative iPhone X notch. In addition, the bevels are extremely thin and we will not have a physical start button.
