Tony Hawk fans beware: Xiaomi launches an electric skateboard. The Xiaomi ACTON is a skateboard with which you should not drive in the halfpipe, but can drive at a top speed of 22 km / h without making an effort!
The Xiaomi ACTON does not look like a classic skateboard. A typical skateboard offers nose and tail in a round shape, the ACTON works here with square ends. Another difference, of course, are the roles. While a skateboard offers wheels with a diameter of about 50 mm, the wheels of this electric skateboard with a diameter of 83 mm are much larger. As you know it from a longboard, the roles are also wider. This has the advantage that you have no problems with collision with small stones on the track, also rolls the board much longer. Both make a lot of sense with the ACTON.
If you look at the deck from a bird’s eye view, you can see that the manufacturer has divided the Griptape into a black and a gray area. In addition to optical reasons, this is probably just for orientation, to distinguish where nose and tail is, so where is front and back. This can be seen in addition to the green arrow on the front of the nose, which dictates the direction of travel.
The underside of the deck is also meant for the skate and longboard. The Xiaomi ACTON reveals the technique here. Between the two axles sit engine and battery. The aluminum frame gives the maple wood additional stability and ensures that women and men up to 100 kg can try their luck on the electric skateboard. Of course, comes by engine and battery also a pretty proud weight. With 5 kg dead weight , it is heavier than normal skateboards, but still easy to transport.
The technique just mentioned makes the big difference between the Xiaomi ACTON and an ordinary longboard. The engine is a 500W engine that catapults the skateboard to 22 km / h . In this case, slopes of a maximum of 15° are possible. It is quite possible that the same engine as the Ninebot ES01 electric scooter is used here. Incidentally, the maximum speed is divided into three different speed modes.
But how long can you cruise the area with the Xiaomi ACTON? Relatively long even! The manufacturer specifies a maximum range of 12 km, of course, it always depends on the weight of the driver. The battery is an 80Wh Li-on battery. If you are on the way, the battery goes dead, you have to go to a power outlet and fully charge the board within an hour. The battery can also be easily removed, so you can use the ACTON as a classic longboard.
With the Xiaomi ACTON you can theoretically also drive at night, because the metal frame is equipped with LEDs all around. So you can be seen from the front, from behind, as well as from the sides. Incidentally, the included remote control brings you to the speed of 22 km / h. With a slider you can control the tempo and brake if necessary.
That this is almost a Xiaomi product, you realize at the latest, that there is the right app to the skateboard . This can probably read the battery level of ACTON and read additional statistics.
Even if the Xiaomi ACTON Skateboard sounds more than tempting, the use on German roads should not be allowed! You know the StVO; E-scooters like the Xiaomi M365 are also not allowed. But there is currently hope that this will change soon. The federal government wants to create a new vehicle class for “micro electric vehicles” that allow a speed of 20 km / h. Currently (as of July 2018) you should drive with the Xiaomi ACTON only on private grounds.
Excuse the language, but I personally have a crush on Xiaomi’s electric skateboard! Market leaders are currently probably Boosted Board, the quality produce probably the strongest electric skateboards, with almost $2000, but also properly checkout! For just over 200€ we are really curious how cool the Xiaomi ACTON is in reality. You can write a lot. In the end, it is important that you stand on the board and it makes you horny.
