We all know that robot vacuums with mop function don’t excel at washing, it’s more like an extra function you can use to refresh the floor. The Yeedi Mop Station is a robot vacuum cleaner that promises to revolutionise the mopping function so that we never have to mop again.
For those who have never heard of Yeedi, it should be mentioned that it is a subsidiary company of Ecovacs. If the name sounds familiar, possibly because it caters to users in the USA and Western Europe. What I wanted to mention is that we are not talking about a brand with no experience, but an established manufacturer with a long history in the industry.
Returning to the Yeedi Mop Station, although it retains the appearance of a regular robot vacuum cleaner, 2 brushes are visible on the front that we have never seen before on another model. These not only rotate (180r/min) during operation, but also apply 10 Nm of pressure, managing to scrub the floor perhaps even better than we could. The water container for the mop is 200ml.
It should be noted that the robot is equipped with a sensor that is designed to detect and avoid carpets in the home in advance when used for washing. This way you don’t have to set “No-Mop” zones in the app for each area where there are carpets.
As the name suggests, there’s also a base where the robot charges but also cleans its own brushes. The base integrates 2 water containers, both with a 3.5 litre capacity. One to collect the dirty water that results after washing the brushes, and the other for the clean water needed for washing. The brushes are automatically sanitised and dried after each use.
Even though the main function for which I would recommend or order the Yeedi Mop Station is washing, it should not be overlooked that it can also be used for vacuuming. There is the option of using it for washing only, vacuuming only or washing and vacuuming at the same time.
The suction power is 2500 Pa and for home mapping it uses a Visual SLAM navigation system – on top is a camera that scans the home and generates a map. Because the navigation system does not use a LIDAR sensor, the vacuum cleaner is only 8.5 centimetres thick. From the mobile app you can set different cleaning schedules, you can only clean certain areas or rooms. The same settings you’ll find on pretty much any other robot vacuum cleaner these days.
Based on the specs, the only minus I can find is that it can’t go over obstacles larger than 1.5 centimeters, this while most models can go over 2 centimeters without problems, possibly because of the 2 brushes.
The Yeedi Mop Station is not a cheap product, but it couldn’t be otherwise given its specifications. At the moment it’s even more expensive than the Roborock S7, the model we considered a few months ago to be the robot vacuum cleaner with the best mop function. Whether it’s worth the price difference remains to be seen.
